Buni emerges unopposed as APC candidate for Yobe East Senatorial Zone
Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni has been confirmed as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Yobe East Senatorial Zone. The confirmation comes after no opposition emerged during the internal party selection process.
Buni, who also serves as chairman of the Lake Chad Basin Governors’ Forum, has pledged to work for the development of the region. His candidacy follows a series of political maneuvers within the APC, as the party seeks to consolidate its position in the upcoming senatorial elections.
The Yobe East Senatorial Zone is a key constituency in northern Nigeria, known for its diverse ethnic and religious composition. Buni’s unopposed nomination signals a strong internal consensus within the APC, though it remains to be seen how this will translate into electoral success.
Political analysts suggest that Buni’s experience as a governor and his leadership role in regional forums could be assets in the campaign. The APC’s strategy in the region will be closely watched ahead of the elections.
